With little light pollution – the air here is believed to be the cleanest in the world – Hetta is considered a prime viewing spot for the Northern Lights. An iconic landmark in Hetta is the tall tower of Enontekio Church, which is located near the lake. Blending modern and traditional Finnish architecture, it was built in 1952 to replace an older church destroyed during World War II. Visiting the church is always a highlight and a must if you’re in Hetta.
