Ready to get rustic?

Nestled by a peaceful lake and cradled within the Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park, which is Finland’s most popular national park, few places rival the breathtaking charm of Jeris. Those who explore this hidden gem come away very pleased that they did, with very special memories to treasure for a lifetime.

Known for its rustic cabins, a selection of our short breaks is based at this picture-perfect recreational area in Finnish Lapland that’s far away from tourist crowds. The air here is believed to be the cleanest in the world.

It’s important for us at Transun that we take our customers to these untouched places, that aren’t overpopulated, so you can have a more authentic and unique experience, and truly get to see the fascinating traditions and culture up close and immerse yourself in it. A trip to Jeris is perfect for couples, curious travellers or a family break, as there’s something for everyone here.

Imagine dense white forests as far as the eye can see, with snow-capped trees all around and seemingly endless gorgeous scenery to enjoy.  You may spot the loveable reindeer – which are a huge part of the history and lifestyle here. They are friendly and curious, and you might find it hard saying goodbye to any new four-legged friends you meet. But keep your eyes peeled, as they’re not the only Arctic wildlife in the region – you might even be lucky enough to spy a moose (they’re hard to miss if you do)! You will really feel at one with nature in this remote, quaint and delightful area.

And, of course, you’ll be looking out for the mystical and magical Northern Lights. Thanks to its remote location, Jeris is an ideal place to look for the much-sought Aurora Borealis. Seeing the green and blue colours dance across the clear night sky will stay with you forever, if you’re lucky enough to witness one of the seven natural wonders of the world, in one of the places recognised by the governments of Finland, Sweden and Norway as offering the best views of the world-famous Northern Lights. Officially!

Plus, the lake itself, Jerisjarvi, holds deep cultural significance for the Sami. It’s an area of outstanding beauty, where you can take some incredible pictures. The stunning lake has been revered throughout history for having clear waters and an abundance of fish. The local food is reason enough to pay a visit!

The nearest village to Jeris is Muonio, which is home to the unique Arctic Sauna World attraction. The contrast of enjoying a hot, relaxing dip in cold surroundings is such a treat, you’ll come away feeling refreshed, revitalised and eager to return!

Jeris would be a stunning and truly unforgettable addition to your Lapland holiday, for those who want to make their trip extra special.
